A mini moment - AGB Icons - Caroline Foster Brown

Thank you so much to Alex Gore Browne for asking me to be a part of her AGBIcons series, I just adore the brand and had such a fun day shooting and being interviewed with the team. If you would like to read my interview - please find below ....

As we continue our #AGBIcons series we are excited to introduce Caroline Foster Brown.

Caroline launched Caroline Foster Brown & Daughters, an events agency, in June 2022. Working with ethical, like-minded clients and brands the company creates thoughtfully considered and completely customised experiences for their clients, taking all the stress out of the process as they do. Today Caroline talks us through why she loves running her events business and her tips for throwing the perfect party.

What’s your background and how did that start your passion for events?

I was lucky to grow up in a very joyful house, my parents constantly threw really fun parties, my Mother always laid beautiful tables with gorgeous flowers all over the house. I started my career aged 19 at Conde Nast where I spent 8 happy years, part of my role at Brides magazine was organising their annual bridal awards, they were big, layered and complex so an excellent training ground! I followed my boss to Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour where I spent 16 wonderful years running their events. We hosted everything from a dinner for 20 Press, Christmas party for 800 guests to exhibtions which ran over 6 days.

What do you love most about running your own business?

I feel very blessed that my career has led me to create a company doing something that I am 100% passionate about. People come to me for my attention to detail so I take on very few events a year to make sure I deliver.

I have incredible clients who trust me, they know I care deeply that each element is well thought out and perfect and I don’t rest until I reach that.

Everyday for me is different, from site visits, sourcing trips, creative meetings, client meetings to desk days, I just love creating magical moments that then turn into wonderful memories for my clients.

The perfect tablescape includes…

Details and authenticity, what I do is very personal, I think about the guests that will be gathered around and always link something that's personal back to them.

Anyone who knows me well, knows I adore personalisation and I always buy a little gift for each guest, either something lovely with their name on, a monogrammed napkin or a book I think they will love.

How would you wear knitwear for an evening event?

That’s where my AGB Willow sweater would come out, I absolutely adore it for the evening with a great pair of velvet jeans and boots.

The best kept party secret is…

RVH Prop Hire - it is a warehouse in Battersea full of the most incredible props and my absolute go to for every event

What are the three essential things which make a perfect party?

Details, little pockets of joy sprinkled around to make people smile and bring elements of surprise

Great food and lots of it & a well stocked bar

Atmosphere is key, make it warm, fun, welcoming, relaxed, with a great playlist, a good mix of guests and well thought out timing
